Andrew Molloy - the Foot Doctor

Andrew Molloy is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at University Hospital Aintree as well as at Spire Liverpool and the Sefton Suite. He is an Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer at the University of Liverpool. Mr Molloy qualified from the University of Leeds in 1996 and passed his final specialist Trauma and Orthopaedic examinations in 2005. He completed his training with a 6-month fellowship in Foot and Ankle surgery under one of the world’s most eminent Foot and Ankle surgeons, Dr Mark Myerson, in Baltimore USA. He has been a Consultant at University Hospital Aintree since 2007


Mr Molloy’s practise at University Hospital Aintree was designated a Centre of excellence by Stryker, one of the world's leading Orthopaedic companies. This means that surgeons, from the UK and internationally, visit to observe specialist operations and have case discussions. He has served on the Scientific committee of the British Orthopaedic Foot and Orthopaedic Society and is currently co-Chair of the Outcomes committee for this national society. He is a reviewer for two of the most respected international Orthopaedic journals


 Mr Molloy has published widely on Foot and Ankle surgery as well as trauma surgery, including both new research and invited review articles. Research has lead to him winning the AO UK trauma prize as well as the Roger Mann award, probably one of the world’s most respected Foot and Ankle Research prizes. He has also written many book chapters on his chosen subspecialty. Mr Molloy has presented at many national and international meetings. He is regularly invited to lecture both nationally and internationally, teaching both junior doctors and other Orthopaedic surgeons. He co-convenes a foot and ankle operative course three times a year for the education of other senior doctors


Specialising as a foot and ankle surgeon, Mr Molloy treats all disorders of the foot and ankle including bunions, flat feet and arthritis. He has a specialist interest in foot and ankle sporting injuries (treating both professional and recreational sportspeople) offering both open and arthroscopic (keyhole) surgery. Outside of medicine, he enjoys family life, golf, football, rugby and skiing.
